FII and Global Health in Riyadh: One Week, Two Venues, 26 to 29 October 2026

Most weeks in Riyadh have one anchor event. The last week of October 2026 has two, and they do not overlap politely. The Future Investment Initiative runs its tenth edition from Monday 26 to Thursday 29 October at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center. The Global Health Exhibition runs from Monday 26 to Thursday 29 October at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham. Same four days, two venues, two entirely different audiences, and one city's fleet between them.

We have written before about why the venue decides the ground plan for Riyadh conferences, and about what an exhibition shuttle actually costs once you count vehicles rather than seats. This guide is about one specific week, and about a problem that only appears when two large events share it.

The Confirmed Facts

Both sets of details below come from the organisers themselves. Agendas, pass types and side events are published separately as each show approaches.

A confirmed event is not a confirmed car. Both sets of dates are real and the demand around them is real, but the vehicle waiting at a hotel door on the morning of 26 October is one somebody arranged in advance. That is the whole point of writing this in September.

Two Venues, Two Different Problems

The King Abdulaziz International Conference Center sits in the Diplomatic Quarter, on the western side of Riyadh, away from the Olaya and King Fahd Road hotel spine where most business visitors actually sleep. The Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center sits in Malham, to the north of the city, and it is far enough out that the Global Health organiser runs free shuttle buses from Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University and from the SAB metro station, and has arranged discounted taxi access with two named operators.

That shuttle programme is worth reading as evidence rather than as a service. An organiser only builds subsidised mass transit when the venue is genuinely far from where the delegates are staying. If you are attending Global Health as a general visitor, use it. If you are hosting clients, bringing a senior team, or running stand duty across four days, a shuttle timetable is not a plan.

Now put the two together. On 26 October, one set of vehicles is running west into the Diplomatic Quarter and a different set is running north to Malham, and both are doing it in the same morning window. Riyadh has plenty of cars. It does not have an unlimited number of well presented cars with experienced chauffeurs who know both routes and can be relied on to be outside the right door at the right minute. That is the pool that empties first.

What FII Means for Ground Transport

FII is the highest concentration of senior people in the Kingdom's autumn calendar. The ninth edition brought more than 9,000 delegates from around 90 countries, over 650 speakers across 250 sessions, 20 heads of state and more than 600 media. The tenth edition is held under royal patronage and its announced speaker list already runs to the chief executives of the largest banks and asset managers in the world.

Transport for that audience is not really a transport question. It is a protocol and reliability question. The people who travel to FII do not compare a fare, they compare whether the car was there. The practical consequences are simple enough: the vehicle is held for the delegate rather than dispatched to them, the chauffeur stays with the car for the day, and the schedule has slack built into it because a session that overruns is the normal case, not the exception.

If your company is sending executives to FII, the pattern that works is a full day car per principal or per small group, from hotel pickup in the morning through to the evening engagement, rather than a sequence of separate airport and point to point transfers. What Global Health Means for Ground Transport

Global Health is a volume event. More than 130,000 healthcare professionals are anticipated across four days, and the organiser's shuttle and discounted taxi arrangements are built precisely for that general visitor. Those arrangements work, and a chauffeur is not what the average attendee needs.

The chauffeur demand at Global Health sits somewhere else entirely, and it is worth being specific about it. It is the exhibiting company with a stand and four senior people in town for the week. It is the international manufacturer hosting ministry officials and hospital group buyers. It is the delegation that arrives together and has to arrive together, because arriving in three separate taxis over twenty minutes undoes the impression the stand was built to create.

For those visitors the venue geography is the argument. A stand team leaving Malham at seven in the evening, four days running, in a city where the return journey is the difficult half, is a full day hire rather than four pairs of transfers. For larger groups, a group vehicle or a small shuttle of our own is usually cheaper per head than the alternative and far easier to keep to time.

The Four Patterns That Actually Get Booked

Across the Riyadh event calendar, companies tend to land on one of four shapes. It is worth choosing deliberately rather than defaulting.

One car per principal, held for the day. The standard for FII and for any senior visitor whose diary can move. The car waits, the chauffeur stays with it, and the day absorbs delays without anybody making a phone call. This is the most expensive option per person and the only one that genuinely removes the problem.

One car per small group, held for the day. Three or four colleagues on broadly the same schedule. A Mercedes V Class or a GMC Yukon does this well and the cost per head drops sharply.

Morning and evening bookends with the middle open. Suitable when the day is genuinely spent inside one venue. Cheaper, but it gives up the flexibility that makes the whole thing worth doing, and in a week when the city's fleet is stretched the evening leg is the one at risk.

Published Riyadh Rates

These are our published Riyadh retail rates for a twelve hour full day and for each additional hour. They are the same rates you will find on our pricing page and they do not change because a conference is on. Prices are in Saudi riyals and exclude VAT.

Four consecutive days is simply four times the daily figure. A GMC Yukon for the full show week comes to SAR 6,900 before VAT; a Mercedes S Class comes to SAR 17,480 before VAT. That arithmetic is ours, from the published daily rates above. For routes between cities, and for Makkah and Madinah, we quote per route rather than publish a figure.

How the Four Days Usually Shape Up

Sunday 25 October. Arrivals day. Most international delegates land the day before, and King Khalid International is busy from mid afternoon into the small hours. Our guide to airport transfer timings covers what a late arrival really costs in waiting time.

Monday 26 October. Both events open. This is the tightest morning of the week. Anything leaving a central hotel between seven and nine is competing with everything else leaving a central hotel between seven and nine, in two directions.

Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 October. The working middle. Global Health runs to seven in the evening, and FII evenings tend to run later than the published programme suggests. These are the two days where a car that waits earns its money.

Thursday 29 October. Both events close, Global Health an hour earlier than the other days, and a large number of people fly out the same evening. Departure transfers on the Thursday are the single most contested slot of the week.

What to Do Now

If you are bringing people into Riyadh for either event, the useful step this month is not a booking, it is a conversation about shape: how many principals, how many days, whether the group travels together, and whether evenings are in the plan. From that, the vehicle count follows, and holding vehicles is far easier in September than it is in the third week of October.

How far in advance should I book for the week of 26 October?

As early as you can. Two large events on the same four days in two different parts of the city means the pool of well presented vehicles with experienced chauffeurs is spoken for well before the week begins. Larger vehicles and multi day holds go first.

Can one chauffeur cover both venues in a day?

Yes, and for a visitor with business at both it is the sensible arrangement, because the alternative is finding a car in Malham at short notice. Build in more time between the two than the map suggests. A single chauffeur holding the car for the day is what makes that kind of schedule possible at all.
