Diriyah and Al Bujairi: A Chauffeur Guide to At Turaif, Bujairi Terrace and Evenings in Historic Diriyah
Diriyah sits on the north western edge of Riyadh along Wadi Hanifa, and Al Bujairi is its dining and heritage quarter facing the At Turaif mud brick citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Evening valet at Bujairi Terrace is listed at SAR 195, so for a dinner or a family visit a chauffeur who drops you at the gate and waits is often the simpler choice. Riyadh full days start from SAR 1,150.
Diriyah is where most visitors to Riyadh end up at least once, and where most Riyadh residents take their guests. It is the birthplace of the first Saudi state, it holds one of the finest groups of Najdi mud brick architecture anywhere, and since the At Turaif district and Bujairi Terrace opened to the public in December 2022 it has become the city's favourite place for a long dinner with a view.
It is also, in practical terms, an evening problem. Most people arrive after sunset, most leave at the same time, and the walk from the car to the table is part of the experience rather than an afterthought. This guide explains how Diriyah works on the ground, what parking actually costs, how to get there from the airport, the hotels and the business districts, and what a car with a chauffeur costs at our published Riyadh rates.

Why Diriyah Is an Evening Problem
Diriyah is not hard to find. What makes it awkward is timing. The busiest hours are after sunset, when the heat has gone and the terrace lights come on, and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights the whole of Riyadh seems to have the same idea. Arrivals bunch up between eight and nine, and departures bunch up again after eleven.
That creates three small frictions that add up. First, the parking: the official page lists valet at SAR 195 after 3 PM, and self parking means a walk that is pleasant on a cool night and less so with elderly parents, small children or formal shoes. Second, the pickup: a ride hailing car booked at eleven o'clock competes with every other table leaving at the same moment. Third, the walk itself: At Turaif and the terrace are best seen on foot, so the drop off point matters more than the route.
A chauffeur solves all three in one move. You are dropped at the gate, the car waits, and when the evening ends one short message brings it back to the same point. For a family visit or a dinner with guests, that is the difference between a relaxed night and a night spent managing logistics.
Getting to Diriyah: Taxi, Ride Hailing or Chauffeur
Taxi or ride hailing. Fine for two people, a short visit and a flexible return. Expect to wait longer for a car at closing time on a weekend night, and allow for surge pricing when everyone leaves at once.
Driving yourself. Workable if you know the area and are happy to pay for valet or walk from self parking. The cost of the evening valet alone is a meaningful share of a few hours with a chauffeur.
A chauffeur. The right choice for a family, a group of guests, a business dinner, anyone visiting Riyadh for the first time, or an evening that will run late. For an evening only, hourly hire is the lighter option. If Diriyah is the last stop of a longer day, a twelve hour full day with a chauffeur covers the meetings, the hotel and the dinner with the same driver. Our guide to getting around Riyadh by metro, taxi or chauffeur compares the options across the city.
From the Airport to Diriyah
Many visitors want to see Diriyah on the day they land, especially on a short trip. King Khalid International Airport lies north of the city, so the journey to Diriyah crosses the northern districts rather than the centre. These are the published Riyadh airport transfer figures, each including meet and greet in arrivals. VAT applies.
| Vehicle | Riyadh airport transfer |
|---|---|
| SUV, Toyota Fortuner or similar | SAR 210 |
| SUV, GMC Yukon or similar | SAR 290 |
| Hyundai H1 or Staria | SAR 575 |
| Toyota Coaster | SAR 690 |
| BMW 7 Series or Mercedes S Class | SAR 690 |
If you are landing in the afternoon and going straight to dinner, book a full day instead of a transfer. The chauffeur collects you at arrivals, waits while you check in, takes you to Diriyah, and brings you back to the hotel at the end of the night, all at one price.
Three Kinds of Diriyah Evening
The family visit. Parents, grandparents and children, a walk through At Turaif and dinner on the terrace. A GMC Yukon carries six with room for a pushchair, and the drop off at the gate saves the walk from self parking. Hyundai H1 and Staria take larger families of up to eleven.
The business dinner. A host bringing clients or a visiting delegation to Diriyah after a day of meetings, often straight from KAFD or Olaya. A Mercedes S Class or BMW 7 Series sets the tone, and the car waits until the last guest is ready. Our corporate chauffeur service covers several cars on one account, and the KAFD guide explains how to plan the meeting half of the day.
The first time visitor. Someone in Riyadh for three days who wants to see one thing that is unmistakably Saudi. Diriyah is usually that one thing, and pairing it with the Boulevard on another evening makes a good short itinerary. Our Boulevard World and Boulevard City guide covers the other half. Larger groups and delegations belong under event transportation.
Diriyah Season and the Riyadh Calendar
Diriyah Season dates for this winter have not been announced at the time of writing. Last season ran through the winter and concluded in March 2026. We will update this guide when official dates are published, and we do not take bookings against an event that has no date.
What is confirmed is the wider calendar. Riyadh Season 2026 opens on Wednesday 21 October, as announced by the General Entertainment Authority, and the Six Kings Slam and the season opening fall in the same week. Those weeks fill the city's evenings and its premium fleet, so if you are hosting guests in Diriyah from late October, book the car early.
The Published Riyadh Rates
These are the full retail figures for Riyadh from our rate tables. Each full day covers twelve hours with a professional chauffeur and fuel included, and extra hours are billed at the rate shown. A Diriyah evening costs what any other Riyadh booking costs. VAT applies.
| Vehicle | Seats | Riyadh full day | Extra hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| SUV, Toyota Fortuner or similar | 6 | SAR 1,150 | SAR 105 |
| Luxury Sedan, Lexus ES or similar | 3 | SAR 1,495 | SAR 140 |
| Hyundai H1 | 11 | SAR 1,610 | SAR 140 |
| SUV, GMC Yukon or similar | 6 | SAR 1,725 | SAR 175 |
| Hyundai Staria | 11 | SAR 1,840 | SAR 175 |
| Toyota Coaster | 21 | SAR 2,070 | SAR 185 |
| Mercedes V Class | 5 | SAR 3,450 | SAR 345 |
| BMW 7 Series | 3 | SAR 4,025 | SAR 345 |
| Mercedes S Class | 3 | SAR 4,370 | SAR 405 |
Our own arithmetic on that table, before VAT: the evening valet listed at Bujairi Terrace, SAR 195, is more than the published extra hour on a GMC Yukon. Every vehicle is described on the fleet page.
Hourly, Full Day or Transfers
If Diriyah is the only plan for the evening, hourly hire is usually the right fit: drop off, wait, return. If the dinner follows a day of meetings or sightseeing, a full day is better value, because the same car and chauffeur cover everything from the morning onwards. Two separate transfers make sense only for a short visit with a fixed return time. Our guide to transfers or a full day in Riyadh works through the break even point, and the Riyadh chauffeur service page covers everything we run in the capital.
Practical Tips for the Pickup
Tell us whether you are going to At Turaif, Bujairi Terrace or a specific restaurant, so the chauffeur uses the closest drop off point. Share your mobile number and keep it on, because a two line message saying you are walking out saves more time than any route. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights, arrive before eight or after nine to miss the busiest arrival window. Dress for a walk: the lanes of At Turaif are best on foot and the evenings can turn cool from November. And if you are hosting guests, send us the guest names and the restaurant booking time with the reservation, so the car is waiting before the first guest arrives.
