WPC Energy Congress 2026 in Riyadh: The Delegate's Transport Plan
The 25th WPC Energy Congress runs from 11 to 15 October 2026 at Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Center on Airport Road, with more than 25,000 delegates expected. Doors open to delegates at 06:00 on the two middle days, the organiser's last shuttle to the metro leaves at 18:30, and the ministerial meetings sit at a second venue in the city. A chauffeur held for the full day covers all three.
Every few years one congress arrives in Riyadh that brings the entire senior layer of an industry to the city in the same five days. In October 2026 it is the WPC Energy Congress, the 25th edition of a congress that brings together producers, governments and investors from across the energy world, under the theme Pathways to an Energy Future for All. The organiser lists His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman among the speakers, alongside the chief executives of Saudi Aramco, Shell, ExxonMobil, BP and TotalEnergies.
That is a guest list with very specific transport needs. It is also a week with a shape that catches people out: very early starts, a venue with no rail link to the door, a second set of invitation only meetings across town, and an evening programme that runs long after the last shuttle. This guide walks through the week as it will actually be lived, day by day, and sets out what we would plan for a principal, a delegation and an exhibiting company. For the venue itself, read our companion guide to Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Center.

Read the table twice and three planning facts jump out. The two middle days open at six in the morning. The first day and the last day are short at one end. And the Sunday before the halls open is already a working day for ministers and their teams at a completely different address.
The Six in the Morning Start
Doors at 06:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday are not a formality. Early sessions, breakfast briefings and stand meetings with the people who are hardest to see later in the day will fill that first hour. A delegate who wants to be inside at six needs to be in a car well before it, and Riyadh's north eastern corridor is not where most senior visitors sleep.
What 06:00 means for the hotel pickup
Most senior delegates stay in Olaya or the King Abdullah Financial District, where their dinners and their other meetings are. From there, an early start at Riyadh Front means leaving the hotel in the dark. At that hour nobody wants to be standing in a lobby refreshing a ride hailing app, and a delegate who has flown in overnight wants even less to discover the car is still ten minutes away. A chauffeur assigned for the day is waiting at the entrance at the time agreed the night before, with water in the car and the route already chosen.
The organiser's official hotel list includes properties close to the venue. For a delegate whose week is almost entirely inside the halls, staying near Airport Road removes most of the early start problem. For the majority whose evenings are in the city, the early start is simply part of the price of the week, and the question is only who is driving.
Two Venues in One Energy Week
The WPC Energy Congress does not sit alone. The organiser describes a wider Energy Week in Riyadh that includes the IEF17 Ministerial Meeting on 11 October at the Ritz Carlton Riyadh, the Clean Energy Ministerial meetings from 11 to 13 October and OAPEC workshops and a symposium. All of these are invitation only, and all of them draw the same ministers, officials and senior executives who then appear at Riyadh Front.
For those guests the week is not one venue, it is a triangle: the hotel, the ministerial venue in the city and the congress halls on Airport Road. Moving around that triangle several times in a day is exactly the pattern where single transfers fall apart. Each leg is a new booking, a new driver and a new wait. One car and one chauffeur held for the day turns the triangle into a schedule. This is the arrangement our event and delegation transport service is built around, and it is why protocol teams rarely book this kind of week any other way.
The Last Shuttle Leaves at 18:30
There is no metro station at the door of Riyadh Front. The congress runs its own free shuttle between the venue and two stations on the Riyadh Metro, Princess Nourah University and SABIC, and states that the last departure from the venue is at 18:30. For a visitor on a tight budget that is a sensible option, and we would recommend it to anyone whose day genuinely ends when the halls close.
For most senior delegates it does not. A meeting overruns, a stand reception starts at six, a colleague arrives late from the ministerial meetings, and the evening dinner is booked for nine in the city. The shuttle has gone, thousands of people are leaving the car parks at once, and ride hailing drivers do not usually wait on Airport Road. We covered the honest comparison of every option in our guide to getting around Riyadh by metro, taxi or chauffeur. At a venue like this, the answer for anyone with an evening programme is a car that is already there.
Saudi Night and the Closing Day
Tuesday 13 October carries Saudi Night, the social highlight of the congress. It is also the first of the two six o'clock mornings, so the delegates who attend will start before dawn and finish late at night on the same day. Check the location and timings in your delegate materials. Whatever they turn out to be, a chauffeur who has been with you since the morning simply carries on, and the move from the halls to the hotel to change and on to the evening is one continuous plan rather than three separate searches for a car.
Thursday 15 October closes at 15:30 for delegates. Many international guests will fly out that evening, which makes the last day the one where holding a vehicle pays for itself most clearly: luggage stays in the boot from the hotel checkout, the car waits through the closing ceremony, and the drive to King Khalid International from Airport Road is short. The venue describes itself as minutes from the airport.
Choosing the Vehicle
The table shows our published Riyadh full day rates from the pricing page. A full day is twelve hours with the chauffeur, fuel and waiting included. VAT applies. The full range of vehicles is on our fleet page.
| Vehicle | Seats | Riyadh full day, 12 hours | Extra hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| SUV, Toyota Fortuner or similar | 6 | SAR 1,150 | SAR 105 |
| Luxury sedan, Lexus ES or similar | 3 | SAR 1,495 | SAR 140 |
| SUV, GMC Yukon or similar | 6 | SAR 1,725 | SAR 175 |
| Hyundai Staria | 11 | SAR 1,840 | SAR 175 |
| Toyota Coaster | 21 | SAR 2,070 | SAR 185 |
| Mercedes V Class | 5 | SAR 3,450 | SAR 345 |
| BMW 7 Series | 3 | SAR 4,025 | SAR 345 |
| Mercedes S Class | 3 | SAR 4,370 | SAR 405 |
The six o'clock mornings matter for the arithmetic. A delegate collected at 05:15 on Tuesday who attends Saudi Night can easily run past twelve hours, so plan for extra hours on that day rather than being surprised by them. On the other days a twelve hour booking comfortably covers the hotel run, the day at the halls and the dinner.
For a single principal
An S Class or a 7 Series held for each day from the Sunday to the Thursday, with the same chauffeur throughout. The Sunday covers the ministerial meetings in the city, Monday to Wednesday cover the congress and the evenings, and Thursday ends at the airport. Because the chauffeur is the same every day, the early pickups, the preferred route and the evening plan only need to be explained once.
For a delegation
A Coaster or one of our 34 and 47 seat coaches for group movements between the hotel and the halls, one or two sedans held for the principals who break away for bilateral meetings, and a coordinator who knows which vehicle is where at any moment. Coaches are quoted per requirement.
For an exhibiting company
A Staria or a V Class sized to the stand team and held for the build days, the four open days and the breakdown, plus a separate car for the most senior person on the stand. Stand teams arrive before the doors open and leave long after the last shuttle, which is exactly when a vehicle of your own earns its cost. On a V Class, book the day rather than individual transfers: two movements and the day has already paid for itself. The arithmetic for larger teams is in our guide to what an exhibition shuttle costs by vehicle count.
Arriving and Leaving Through King Khalid International
Riyadh Front sits between the airport and the city, which makes it one of the few venues in Riyadh where going straight from the aircraft to the halls is realistic. A meet and greet airport transfer collects inside the terminal, holds the luggage and drives to the venue or the hotel as the schedule demands. For a delegate landing on the Sunday for the welcome reception or the ministerial meetings, the arrival is simply the first movement of a full day booking.
October Is Crowded, and WPC Is Only the Start
The congress opens a month in which Riyadh's premium fleet will be busier than at any point this year. The racing season at King Abdulaziz Racecourse opens on 16 October. Riyadh Season opens on 21 October, the same night as the first evening of the Six Kings Slam at ANB Arena. FII and the Global Health Exhibition then run on the same four days from 26 to 29 October at venues around forty kilometres apart, which we covered in our FII and Global Health transport guide. Companies whose executives are in the city for more than one of these should book the whole stay at once. For the wider pattern of conference and exhibition transport in Riyadh, see our general guide.
Booking for WPC Week
We operate around the clock in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, with the same chauffeur assigned for the length of a booking wherever the schedule allows. Larger vehicles go first in a week like this one, and companies with repeat visitors through the season can set up a corporate account so every trip runs on one arrangement. Send us the dates, the hotel and the number of people on +966 56 644 0190 or at info@roarkchauffeur.com and we will come back with a plan and a quote for the whole week.
Frequently Asked Questions
When and where is the WPC Energy Congress 2026?
The 25th WPC Energy Congress runs from 11 to 15 October 2026 at Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Center on King Khalid International Airport Road, Riyadh. The welcome reception is on 11 October, the inaugural session on 12 October, and the exhibition is open from 12 to 15 October.
What time does the WPC Energy Congress open each day?
For delegates and exhibitors the halls open at 09:00 on 12 October, at 06:00 on 13 and 14 October, and at 06:00 on 15 October. They close at 18:00 on the first three days and at 15:30 on the final day. Visitors are admitted from 12:00 on the first day and from 08:00 on the others.
Is there a shuttle to the WPC Energy Congress?
Yes. The congress runs a free shuttle between the venue and the Princess Nourah University and SABIC stations on the Riyadh Metro. The last departure from the venue is at 18:30, so anyone staying for a reception or a late meeting needs their own transport home.
Where is the IEF17 Ministerial Meeting held?
The organiser lists the IEF17 Ministerial Meeting on 11 October 2026 at the Ritz Carlton Riyadh. It is invitation only, as are the Clean Energy Ministerial meetings from 11 to 13 October and the OAPEC sessions held during the same week.
How much does a chauffeur for WPC week cost?
Published Riyadh full days, twelve hours with chauffeur, fuel and waiting included, start at SAR 1,150 for a Toyota Fortuner and SAR 1,495 for a Lexus ES, with an eleven seat Hyundai Staria at SAR 1,840, a BMW 7 Series at SAR 4,025 and a Mercedes S Class at SAR 4,370. VAT applies and coaches are quoted per requirement.
Should I book transfers or a full day for the congress?
For anyone with an evening programme, a full day. The early starts, the 18:30 last shuttle, the second venue for ministerial meetings and the dinners in the city mean most delegates make three or more movements a day, and at that point a held car with the same chauffeur costs less than separate transfers and removes every wait.
